Evan

Around the same time last year I went for a photowalk in San Francisco’s Chinatown and walked the alleys. Before this I would admit I am one who always took the main roads most of the time. I guess fear always sets in for me. But photography and the passion for it makes me curious all the time about nooks, corners and the moments that are to be captured. I shoot a lot but gets hungrier and hungrier for more.
In one of the alleys, I saw this boy practicing his kung-fu. His name is Evan.

I've been meaning to blog/write more about my passion for photography or mainly analogue photography. But most of my time are spent shooting, scanning, uploading and looking at photograph after photograph. I am not one to make resolutions though I have goals here and there and I am a sucker for the new year stuff hehe. I guess I will make another go at this and also to prepare for an upcoming venture/project which hopefully will start in the next month or so. Thanks to my friend Marie (or lighthouseblues on lomography). Her passion and her photography has served as a great inspiration to me. And these past months, she has been pushing me to "write about your passion". And so I start by sharing/reblogging Marie's New Year post with this beautiful black and white photo. Happy 2013!

Will be going on a two week trip to Paris, Madrid and Vienna in two days and I still can’t decide how many rolls of films (35mm and 120mm) will I be bringing. Is 30 enough? Or maybe not if I will be shooting lots of street scenes. And there’s the wedding too. 3, 4 or 5 for that? I guess I’ll figure it all out a few hours before my shuttle to the airport arrives.

And yes, I am exclusively shooting film these days. And on this vacation, I challenge myself to shoot film entirely. Hmm, except for the occasional instagram photos but yeah those are not really counted.

And this blog, yes this blog….I’m still not so set as to the direction this blog is heading to. I kinda know though that it will be mostly be posts of photographs of yes, my life and the world and condition I live in right now. I’d love it to be a documentation of my everyday world through photographs I take. I’d love it to be photographs to express how I feel at those moments that I took them. I’d love it to be a reflection of me( and where I don’t need to talk much and just let the photos do that for me hehe). I hope you will ride along….

Here are some recent ones I took with the Lubitel 2….all in colored….

I love this plant.

I found this small tunnel like trail and as I walked in, Shiloh followed.

Good night.

Second Day of the Year….

These were taken on the second day of the year. It was a Monday but it was still a holiday here in the States. These days like on that day I get urges to just go out at least once or twice a week and shoot. I prefer shooting in an urban environment like in downtown L.A. Fashion District but on that day, I chose the ocean…amongst tidepools and the waves….and black and white film ( Ilford XP2) felt like a good choice with my Pentax ME Super…

It’s been 7 months since but I always go back to this first photo here…Image
